Warfighters in the US Military, Transgenders Once Again Banned

President Donald Trump ordered a ban on transgenders in the US Military on Wednesday. But that did not come out of thin air. Secretary of Defense James Mattis ordered a review of anything and everything that prevents our military from being warfighters on July 21.

This Administration is not focused on social experiments. The cost of providing medical care for transgenders to transition from one gender to another has been another issue. They want warfighters for the military to achieve victory over enemies.

In a July 21st memo directed to all Military Services, the National Guard Bureau, and combatant commanders, SecDef Mattis requested that they determine how troops can be trained, equipped, and organized to improve their readiness and lethality.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

According to the Military Times,

Notably, Mattis has ordered a review of the “requirements for mandatory force training that does not directly support core tasks” – the many hours soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines spend prior to deployment meeting the Pentagon-required tasks that sometimes have little to do with the role they will actually fulfill when deployed.

“I want to verify that our military policies also support and enhance warfighting readiness and force lethality,” Mattis said.

Mattis also ordered a review of the retention or separation of permanently non-deployable service members, the civilian workforce hiring process, and he also has asked for an increased emphasis on counterintelligence training for each of the services’ law enforcement branches.

The decision on Wednesday created an enormous response, with people calling Trump numerous names.

In 2016, Ashton Carter, then Secretary of Defense, lifted the ban on transgenders in the military, but allowed a one year review period. Mattis delayed the implementation of the transgender policy. According to a report then, lifting the ban would have little effect. But that Pentagon report under Obama was vastly under-researched- it failed to account for a plethora of problems. Recently, after the military was saddled with the costs of transitioning service members, it also had to face issues such as who showers where.

As recently as July 7, the idea of women showering with men who still had their genitalia raised extreme controversy.

“…any female officers who may be uncomfortable with a transgender soldier displaying their genitals in the barracks or shower will simply have to adjust and get used to it, because it explicitly states that transgender officers do not need to modify their behaviors for others in the facility.

‘[T]ransgender soldiers are not required or expected to modify or adjust their behavior based on the fact that they do not ‘match’ other soldiers.'” The Blaze

There are currently as many as 1,320 to 6,630 transgenders serving in the US military, with some estimates even higher. In 2014, the cost of transgenders in the military reached $6.24 million for just 5% of the military population.

The generals, the President, are focused on achieving victory over an enemy who wants to kill us.

As a US Marine veteran recently told us, “Guys who think they’re girls and vice versa. Certainly not the military I served in. But back then, ships were made of wood and men were made of iron…”
