Trump Meets with Gold Star Families

In the middle of the fight of his life against a media feeding frenzy, Trump took time out to meet with Gold Star families to hear their concerns and thoughts prior to a rally in Florida. The consensus was that he was quiet, respectful, kind and would be a good Commander-in-Chief.

The meeting was organized by Karen Vaughn, whose Navy SEAL son Aaron was killed in Extortion 17 on August 6, 2011.

According to the Military Times,

The private conference, which attendees said lasted about 30 minutes before a rally in Florida, included top Trump defense adviser retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and was organized by Karen Vaughn, the mother of a fallen Navy SEAL and a featured speaker at last month’s Republican convention. Ten parents, siblings and spouses of fallen service members were included.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“It was really a chance to tell our stories, but also talk about problems with the rules of engagement [for troops in war zones] and the failed policies of the current administration,” Vaughn said. “I walked out feeling like I understood where his heart is, regardless of the comments that he made that may seem insensitive to some.”

Fox News asked the Vaughns about their son and the meeting with Trump:

“Mr. Trump was very gracious. There was no script. No agenda. He wanted to know our stories and what we have gone through. He was absolutely empathetic.” Kris Hager, father of Army Staff Sgt. Joshua Hager who died in Iraq in 2007.

The meeting was private, and no media were allowed inside except the campaign staff photographer. The families were pleasantly surprised that he spent a full half hour with them, according to the Tampa Bay Times. And Khizr Khan’s name never came up.

One Gold Star father said he had expected just a handshake and a “thank you for your service.” What he got was empathy, compassion, kindness…

Trump did not use them to deflate the Khan controversy, he simply sat quietly and  listened to their concerns. He did not use them as Hillary used Khan.

Veterans – you are being used

This is one example of what happens when the media frenzy overshadows the truth. Hillary exaggerated the comments in the Khan controversy, as has the entire mainstream media. Many veterans have hopped on that train.

But let’s cut to the chase by using one Blue Star Mom’s Facebook post that reads in part:

“…HOW can you support this woman? How can you affiliate your family with a party and candidate that cannot even call the radicals that killed your son what they are? How can you support a current administration that diminishes your son’s death by denying he had an enemy?… Your son died for that Constitution you so carelessly waved around on national TV in support of the very party that exists to destroy it.
