Taxpayer-subsidized NPR set to end live interviews with conservatives

Despite being partly funded by taxpayers, National Public Radio is every bit as biased against conservatives as the Clinton News Network, or CNN.  After a live interview with Breitbart News’ Joel B. Pollack, NPR ombudsman/public editor Elizabeth Jensen recommended the service ban future live interviews with conservatives who may have what NPR considers to be “controversial” views, Breitbart.com reported Saturday.

According to Breitbart:

Pollak, who serves as Breitbart’s Senior Editor-at-Large and In-house Counsel, defended its Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon from false and defamatory claims of antisemitism and “white nationalism.” He also turned the tables, pointing out that NPR has “racist programming,” including a story that called the 2016 election results “nostalgia for a whiter America.”

NPR listeners were apparently outraged that anyone from Breitbart News had been given an opportunity to defend the website and its chairman.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

In her response, “Listeners: Two Recent Interviews Are ‘Normalizing Hate Speech’,” Jensen concluded that the live format had allowed Pollak to get the better of host Steve Inskeep.

She suggested that future interviews be taped: “In addition, in my opinion, these interviews should not be done live. Inskeep is an excellent live interviewer, but live interviews are difficult, especially when there is limited time. A little contextualizing never hurts.”

Translation: Our interviewers can’t rebut conservative arguments, so we’re going to rig the interview to make sure the conservative looks bad.

Breitbart also noted that “Jensen’s recommendation mirrors the language of a critique by the left-wing pressure group Media Matters, which complained that ‘the interview failed to contextualize the true extent of Breitbart’s extremism under Bannon’s leadership.’”

How interesting is that?

I’ve got a better idea.  Let’s pressure Congress and the President-elect to completely strip NPR of any taxpayer money.  Why in the world are taxpayers subsidizing a biased outlet that has this kind of jaundiced view of those to the right of center?

And with the Internet and the hundreds of channels on cable, NPR really isn’t necessary anymore.

Talk about  liberal “tolerance.”
