A pair of Rasmussen Reports released this week remove any doubt that there is a public perception, especially among conservatives, that the media is no friend to President Donald Trump.

One poll showed that most Republicans are angry at the media and support Trump’s recent increased criticism of the press corps. That poll found that 48 percent of likely voters “are at least somewhat angry with the media,” while 50 percent are not.

Rasmussen breaks down the numbers a bit, revealing that 72 percent of Republicans and 49 percent of independents think it is appropriate for elected officials to “call out specific reporters and news organizations,” while only 27 percent of Democrats agree.

Back in 2010, however, when Barack Obama was in his first term, 53 percent of Democrats were “angry at the media.” At that time, 79 percent of Republicans were angry at the media, too.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

In a separate survey, Rasmussen learned that 44 percent of likely voters “believe that most reporters are trying to block Trump from passing his agenda.” Broken down by party affiliation, 63 percent of Republicans think most reporters are trying to block Trump, “while 60% of Democrats say most are simply interested in unbiased news reporting,” Rasmussen said.

Forty-eight percent of independents think reporters “want to block Trump.”

The second survey also found that, “A plurality (44%) of all voters continues to believe the average reporter is more liberal than they are.” Only 17 percent think reporters are more conservative and 24 percent thinks the average reporter “is about the same as themselves ideologically.”

A third Rasmussen survey also found that 36 percent of likely voters watch Fox News, while 24 percent watch CNN and 14 percent watch MSNBC. Twelve percent watch a different network and 14 percent don’t watch cable news at all.

Here’s another interesting Rasmussen revelation: “Among Fox News viewers, newcomer Tucker Carlson leads the pack, being trusted most by 24%, followed by 18% each who put their faith in Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly. Interestingly, 14% of regular Fox News viewers trust MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow most, with other MSNBC and CNN on-air personalities in single digits.”
