President Trump to Mitch McConnell…Step Aside

President Trump has now openly said it.  If Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., can’t get important bills through the Senate, he should step aside and let someone else try.  Earlier in the week McConnell, the liberal Republican senator from Kentucky, said that Trump has no idea how long it takes to get anything done in Congress.

Well, I have some idea since McConnell has been spouting “Repeal and Replace Obamacare” for the past seven years — along with many other Republicans.  So, evidently it takes at least 8 years.

Ironically, former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid — the Nevada Democrat Conservative Firing Line readers agreed was both evil and mentally unstable — was able to accomplish more in the minority than McConnell can with the majority.

Reid would have pulled out all stops including threatening senators with being cut off from funds from the Democratic Senate Committee to being primaried in their next election.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

McConnell, simply put, lacks the backbone to bring pressure to bear.  The nearly 65 million voters who showed up on election day to vote for Trump’s policies have been betrayed again.

According to the Associated Press:

2:40 p.m.

President Donald Trump is suggesting that the Senate’s top Republican should step aside if he can’t pass Trump’s legislative agenda.

Trump says, “You can ask the question” about whether Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should remain in his position if he cannot pass a plan to repeal and replace health care, change the tax code and move an infrastructure proposal.

The president was speaking briefly to reporters during a 17-day trip to New Jersey and New York City, where he maintains homes.

Trump has been sniping at McConnell for several days on Twitter, a reaction to McConnell’s earlier remarks that the president was new to Washington and doesn’t realize how difficult it is to pass legislation.

In 2018, we need to create a litmus test for those running for the Senate and only vote for those who commit to not voting for McConnell to lead the Senate Republicans in 2019 and beyond.
