Potential ISIS Fighter Held as Flight Risk – Wannabe?

Brownsburg, Indiana – An Indiana 18-year-old, Akram Musleh, was arrested on Tuesday as he attempted to board a bus  to leave for New York. His plan was to leave the US to fight for ISIS.  He purchased the tickets back in April, and he had tried to leave the US previously at least 5  times, but was prevented by US Customs. He is charged with providing aid and support to a terrorist organization by joining it.

Wanna-Be Terrorist?

The Washington Post reported,

FBI agents apprehended Musleh on Tuesday at a Greyhound bus terminal in Indianapolis as he tried to board a bus to New York, where he was to fly to Morocco and on to territory controlled by the Islamic State, prosecutors said.

The FBI first encountered Musleh in 2013, when he posted videos on his YouTube channel from American-born Al-Qaeda leader,  Anwal al-Awlaki. The FBI questioned him then, but he justified it by saying he was “just trying to learn about Islam.” The FBI says it “took steps to dissuade Musleh from engaging in radical extremism.

That worked. Not. Nine months later he purchased an ISIS flag online and took his picture in front of it.
