Ohio policeman served sandwich containing shards of glass

A police officer was served a sandwich containing shards of glass. On Tuesday, the Associated Press reported that a police officer in Columbus, Ohio, cut his mouth after being served a sandwich containing shards of glass.

According to the AP:

The Columbus officer cut his mouth after biting into the sandwich served to him at a restaurant on Monday afternoon. He was taken to a hospital and held there overnight.

Police say the officer heard a crunching sound as he ate the sandwich.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Columbus Public Health officials say they plan to visit the restaurant Tuesday to help determine what happened.

10TV provided a bit more information, including the name of the restaurant:

The officer, who has not been named, was eating at the Lincoln Cafe on East Long Street on Monday when he “heard a crunch” as he bit into the sandwich, according to police. The officer then noticed his mouth was bleeding and found a piece of glass.

The officer drove himself to Grant Medical Center where tests were performed.

The Operational Manager at Lincoln Cafe tells 10TV the business has a long history with police and has not had any similar events in the past.

The police department says it does not believe the glass was placed in the sandwich intentionally:

So… How did the glass get there?  Inquiring minds really want to know.

Bingo…

Maybe it was a shard of assault glass…

Weasel Zippers noted:

Lincoln Cafe, previously known as Zanzibar Brews, bills itself as a ‘progressive coffeehouse’, and has hosted events for politicians, including Democratic candidates.

Interesting…

According to reports, the case remains under investigation.
