William Jacobson, NBC’s affiliate in Washington, D.C has reported that park police removed tourists and Viet Nam Vets from the memorial wall. The area around the memorial was barrycaded and a small group of vets walked around them and were told by park police that the memorial was closed.
Later, a larger contingent of veterans showed up and took the barryers down and soon the plaza filled up with veterans and tourists. At that point, park police arrived and chased the vets from their memorial.
