Mark Witaschek is a successful businessman and law abiding citizen living in Washington D.C. On June 7th, 2012, members of the D.C. gun recovery unit asked Witaschek if they could search his home for guns. Witaschek gave them permission. They found one box of Winchester .40 ammunition, a gun cleaning kit (legal), and a Civil War era pistol. They confiscated the pistol even it is legal to own one without a permit.
One month later, on July 7th, 2012, 30 police in full combat gear raided Witaschek’s home. His 16 year old son was in the shower and the police broke down the bathroom door with a battering ram and pulled the naked boy from the bathroom and took him to a room with his three siblings.
