MSNBC hack Joe Scarborough says he’s leaving GOP over Trump — Was he ever truly a Republican?

During an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” MSNBC propagandist and former House member Joe Scarborough announced that he’s leaving the Republican Party because the GOP isn’t doing enough to sabotage the Trump administration.  The announcement caused many to wonder if he was ever truly a Republican.

According to the Washington Examiner:

Scarborough has become an outspoken critic of President Trump, although the two were previously thought to be friendly.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

He told Colbert he left the Republican Party because it isn’t doing enough to push back at the Trump administration, especially with revelations related to Russia.

“Time and time and time again they turn the other way,” Scarborough said of Republicans. “And they are doing the same thing now. It’s actually disgusting and you have to ask yourself, what exactly is the Republican Party willing to do? How far are they willing to go? How much of this country and our values are they willing to sell out? I am not a Republican anymore. I’ve got to become an independent.”

The Hill added:

His announcement comes after President Trump launched an attack on Scarborough and “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski in late June.

Trump went after Brzezinski’s looks, saying that she was “bleeding badly from a face-lift” when she and Scarborough visited Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club on New Year’s Eve.

The “Morning Joe” duo fought back, saying that White House staff told them that Trump would have a tabloid story run about them unless they “begged” for it to be killed. Scarborough said he had evidence to back these claims but that he wouldn’t release it.

Here’s video of his comments and excuses for leaving the GOP:

Reaction on social media could be summed up with the phrase, “don’t let the door hit you on the way out,” as many questioned his GOP credentials — even though he held office as a Republican.

For example, back in 2014, Scarborough claimed the Ferguson riots would give ammunition to unnamed “right-wing nuts.”

“These looters, some of whom may not even be from Ferguson, are giving right-wing nuts all of the ammunition they need to attack politicians on both sides who are trying to preach restraint, to do what, you know, Rand Paul said last week, and what — I bring him up just because Republicans are finally starting to talk out on this,” he said.

Scarborough also questioned Sarah Palin’s intelligence back in 2010:

What man or mouse with a fully functioning human brain and a résumé as thin as Palin’s would flirt with a presidential run? It makes the political biography of Barack Obama look more like Winston Churchill’s, despite the fact that the 44th president breezed into the Oval Office as little more than a glorified state senator.

And just a little over a year ago, Scarborough was said to be “in the tank” for Trump.

Now, Scarborough is picking up his marbles and leaving the GOP.  To which we say, “good riddance.”
