On Thursday, Malik Obama, half-brother to the former president, issued a tweet that included a picture of what looks like a birth certificate for his half-brother from a hospital in Mombasa, Kenya.

According to the certificate, Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in Mombassa, Kenya.

Calling the certificate a forgery, the UK Daily Mail said a man by the name of Lucas Smith offered the document for sale on eBay in 2009.  The site removed the page due to its policy forbidding the sale of purported government documents.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Some wondered why this is still an issue:

Others, however, disagreed:

Dupree countered:

Good point — the GOP had eight years to do something but didn’t…

Don’t expect to see much come of this, though…

You may recall that in 2011, the White House released what it said was Obama’s birth certificate from Hawaii:

The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn’t good for the country. It may have been good politics and good TV, but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country. Therefore, the President directed his counsel to review the legal authority for seeking access to the long form certificate and to request on that basis that the Hawaii State Department of Health make an exception to release a copy of his long form birth certificate.
