Robert Mercer, a hedge fund manager, has already stepped up to the plate to help bring down faux Republican Jeff Flake. With about a year to go before the primary, Mercer has contributed $300,000 to Kelli PAC, the PAC for Senate hopeful Kelli Ward.
Last election cycle, Mercer and his wife contributed $700,000 total to Ward in her bid to defeat John McCain, a “Republican” who votes and acts like a liberal Democrat. Mercer was a yuuuggggeee contributor to current president Donald Trump.
Flake has just released a book that basically says that Democrats are wonderful and that he totally agrees with their open border policies. He is currently working to revive the liberal Gang of Eight immigration reform bill in order to grant amnesty to at least 11 million illegal aliens.
Jeff Flake should be an easy target for Ward unless she commits a massive unforced error. Currently Flake has an eighteen percent approval rating with sixty two percent disapproving. His approval among Republicans is a meager 22%, while his disapproval is at 57%. A poll pitting Flake against a generic unnamed Democrat indicates he would lose 47-31. To make matters worse, Trump won the votes of 47% of those polled versus 42% who went with Hillary.
Seriously, he might as well announce his retirement today. He saved Obamacare, supported Obama’s crappy deal with Iran and of course voted for the Gang of Eight amnesty plan. I consider the defeat of Flake in the primary to be the same as a seat pick up for conservatives.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders wouldn’t deny last week the possibility that Trump would support a primary challenge to Flake.
“I’m not sure about any potential funding of a campaign,” Sanders said. “But I think that Sen. Flake would serve his constituents much better if he was less focused on writing a book and attacking the president.”
