Liberal Fusion demands: ‘No white men over 55’ as debate moderators

Editors at the left-wing Fusion want to exclude white males over 55 from presidential debates

Scratch a liberal, find a bigot, the saying goes.  On Friday, the left-wing Fusion posted an op-ed by executive editor Dodai Stewart and editor-in-chief Alexis C. Madrigal demanding that presidential debates include absolutely no white men over 55 as moderators.  The reason?  Because that’s not what America looks like anymore, the site claims:

Traditionally, presidential debate moderators have been white men over 40. In 2012, all four moderators — Martha Raddatz, Jim Lehrer, Bob Schieffer and Candy Crowley — were white people over 55. It was the first time in 20 years a woman had been chosen to moderate.

This isn’t what America looks like. Issues around race, gender, immigration, discrimination and justice are not just talking points — they’re a matter of life or death for many. We need moderators who better reflect this reality.

So in order to pander to the special snowflakes who make up the liberals in the younger generation, Fusion says we should have no white males over the age of 55 participating in the presidential debates.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

And apparently, the debates should only focus on liberal ideas:

We owe it to young Americans — the people who have to live in this country in the future — to have a debate that deals with the issues important to them. We need a moderator who will ask about Black Lives Matter. We deserve a moderator who will ask tough questions about immigration. We are owed a moderator who will question the candidates about Islamophobia, who is not afraid to question the nominees about abortion, about deportations, about paid maternity leave, about LGBTQ discrimination, about student debt. If America’s future is young, brown, queer and female, America owes it to itself to listen to those voices during the presidential debates. Reporters who are gay, women, black, Latino, Asian and Native American should be considered for the moderator roles. And we’re not talking about brief cameo appearances by black and brown faces invited to ask uncomfortable questions before being shuttled off the stage.

That’s right — forget about the economy, national security, terrorism, jobs or any of the other real issues affecting the country.  Maybe Fusion would also like to exclude everyone white, male and over 55 from voting.

Talk about racism, sexism and ageism.  If a conservative suggested excluding black females or young people, he or she would be excoriated from one end of the country to the other — and rightfully so.

But being liberal, Fusion can pitch this nonsense and no one says a word.

Nevertheless, they want us to believe that Donald Trump and the Republicans are the bigots…

Right…
