Kansas City police disarm Antifa Communists at weekend rally — Video

On Saturday, the Kansas City Star reported that police ordered a gaggle of far-left Antifa Communists to disarm and remove ammunition from their weapons and from their possession at a rally held in Washington Square park.

According to the Star:

The armed individuals peacefully complied. Several with the antifa groups said the action violated their rights under state law allowing them to openly carry weapons. They said they planned to fight the order but decided not to take any action at the park.

“We don’t see any merit to fight it now,” said one person who removed ammunition from a rifle under order of the police.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

His face was covered, as were the faces of many at the rally just north of Crown Center, and he declined to identify himself other than to say he was a partisan from the Kansas City Revolutionary Collective, which describes itself as an “autonomous Marxist-Leninist-Maoist collective.”

About the group, the Daily Caller said:

In a post on their WordPress blog, as highlighted by Far Left Watch, the organization decried the “pacifist nature and indifference that characterizes much of the resistance to Trumpite fascism,” and states that “a more militant resistance is emerging, one that we wholeheartedly support and seek to enrich.” The group calls for “every communist” to “take self-defense seriously.”

Far Left Watch further noted:

Like other far-left Antifa groups we have reported on, the Kansas City Revolutionary Collective  is a self described Marxist-Leninist-Maoist collective. In a blog post titled Discard the Phony Resistance, Build Up the Militant Resistance to Fascism they state that “we must pick up and familiarize our selves with the gun” and that “every protest should be viewed as a school of war”:

“If we wish to protect ourselves, our class, and defeat the horrors of organized fascism then we must pick up and familiarize ourselves with the gun. Every protest should be viewed as a school of war, and every war requires disciplined self-defense without exception. We mean to make war on capitalism, imperialism, and fascism. We learn war through making it, just as we learn the gun by picking it up. Practice has served as our greatest teacher, and will continue to do so. We see no greater service to the People than by propagating, strengthening, and broadening self-defense programs and training, both armed and unarmed, to stave off fascist terror. We will not fail in our task.”

The Star said those who were masked were concerned they might be targeted for harassment if their faces were uncovered.

Sgt. Kari Thompson, the Star said, cited a city ordinance that prohibits possession of a weapon “readily capable of lethal force.” She said ordinance 50-261.(a)(7) allows possession of a weapon but not along with the ammunition it uses.

“The gun and the bullet cannot be together,” Thompson explained.

Moreover, she said, the ordinance “prohibits open carry anywhere” within city limits unless the individual also carries a concealed-carry permit.

“After the August 20 demonstration where there were several people armed in the park, we looked further into ordinances involving openly carrying firearms,” police Capt. Stacey Graves said in a text. “This Saturday, we contacted people on both sides of the issues that were carrying firearms. Everyone was cooperative.”

On Friday, Kansas City Police Chief Rick Smith said in a blog post:

Police are aware of and prepared for a rally set for Washington Square Park on Saturday, Sept. 9. It is slated to involve numerous groups and hundreds of people from across the political and ideological spectrum. We also are prepared that some of those people will have differing viewpoints and may not get along. Our only duty will be to ensure that everyone is safe as they exercise their constitutional right to free speech, as I outlined in my previous blog. We are there as a neutral party. The event isn’t about us, and we will remain as uninvolved as possible. But we will have the resources ready should more involvement be needed to maintain safety.

We don’t know every group or person slated to attend. But as is our practice, we have reached out to organizers of groups who we know will be there so we can work together to ensure everyone’s safety. I want to be clear in stating that we never invite anyone to a demonstration or ask attendees to assist us with enforcement activities in any way.

Based on our conversations with organizers and other information, we created an operations plan. We do this for every rally/protest/demonstration in the city and have extensive experience in keeping these events peaceful and non-violent. We appreciate the thousands of people who have come out to make their voice heard on a number of issues in a peaceful manner. That’s one of the great things about Kansas City: the quality of its people.

Here’s video of the Communists being disarmed:

According to Far Left Watch, the Communists were there to protest the grassroots national security organization ACT For America, an organization opposed to the implementation of Sharia law in the United States.

Exit question: Where’s the left-wing anti-gunners on this?
