John Kerry – “Israel can’t be Jewish and a Democracy at the same time”

On Wednesday, Secretary of State John Kerry deepened the angst against Israel by giving a speech that created a diplomatic furor.

Kerry started off his speech just like Shakespeare’s Marc Antony in “Julius Caesar.”  Sort of the “I’ve come to bury Caesar, not to praise him” method which simply made the diplomatic situation with Israel worse.

He stated that “no administration has done more for Israel than Barack Obama.” Actually no administration has been more hostile to Israel and their Prime Minister than BHO.

He said the US has fought for Israel’s legitimacy all along. He said the U.S. has a “steadfast commitment” to Israel’s security.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Then he hit the “buts…” lots of them. He even claimed that Israel was deliberately “cementing a one state” attitude instead of a two state idea, and talked about how their actions had left Palestinians trapped on the West Bank and Gaza.

One of his statements:

“Israel can’t be Jewish and a Democracy at the same time.” John Kerry

Funny, John-boy, they’ve been Jewish and a Democracy all along.

He defended the abstention at the U.N. by saying that the settlements breed terror, and that they destroy any hope of a two-state solution between Palestinians and Israelis. He repeatedly referred to Israel as a military “occupation,” a term which always infuriates Israelis.

All of that went over like a lead balloon.

“Like the Security Council resolution that Secretary Kerry advanced in the UN, his speech tonight was skewed against Israel. For over an hour, Kerry obsessively dealt with settlements and barely touched upon the root of the conflict — Palestinian opposition to a Jewish state in any boundaries.”  Benjamin Netanyahu

And that bottom line is the problem. Abbas has repeatedly refused to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist. Hamas also hates Israel and could care less about a “homeland where they can grow as a people.”

Dividing Jerusalem is the goal of a two-state solution. The administration wants a return to pre-1967 borders, which would be disastrous for Israel’s security.

The resolution actually “de-legitimizes” Israel and leaves them open to condemnation and sanctions, as we have previously reported.

A history of betrayal

But then, John Kerry has a history of being wrong and his thoughts “skewed.”

On April 22, 1971, Kerry “testified” before the Senate about the Vietnam War. His anti-war stance swayed many, and left a bad taste in the mouths of Vietnam Veterans.

NPR wrote:

But just as obviously, it still infuriates some Vietnam veterans who believe that young John Kerry veered from protest into slander when he told senators he had heard other vets confess that “they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, (and) taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power…” Some veterans still blame John Kerry’s testimony for lending credibility to a caricature of Vietnam veterans as lunatic baby-killers.

Kerry blasted the United States for its involvement in Vietnam and characterized the military as vicious killers. Never mind that as soon as the US left Vietnam, the small village of Duc Duc that had helped the Americans was massacred by the North Vietnamese down to the last person (we previously reported that here).

When he ran for President in 2004, he came under personal attack from the “Swiftboat” veterans who questioned his service and his medals. George W. Bush won that election, largely due tot he questions they raised about John Kerry.

Then, of course we have John Kerry telling the media not to report on terrorists so much.

“Perhaps the media would do us all a service if they didn’t cover it quite as much. People wouldn’t know what’s going on.”

That was helpful, don’t you think?

The anti-Israel agenda

The agenda of people like John Kerry and Barack Obama is to force the two state solution. Having an outside nation try to cram it down the throats of the Israelis will not help. Would Israel be any more “secure” or “safe” with such a plan? The administration’s views are woefully ignorant.

Kerry, and other administration officials met just before the UN vote with the other nations that voted for it. It’s a lesson in betrayal, one with which John Kerry is well acquainted.
