As the noose grows tighter around Hillary’s neck over her email scandal, her attempts to brush it aside has fallen flat and even her closest friends see peril in her future.
A legal adviser, who has been giving the Clintons advice for thirty years, has told Hillary she needs to hire a legal team to protect her from the investigation into her use of a private server and the security concerns over such use. The unnamed adviser is expressing his concern and frustration over getting Hillary to take the matter seriously. He says she is in a state of denial and her claims that it is a partisan attack by Republicans is more than a little bizarre since the FBI and the Department of Justice are the ones investigating.
The adviser, in an interview with author and journalist, Ed Klein, says that Bill Clinton is taking the matter seriously but that Hillary isn’t. He claims he is also getting a lot of heat from Hillary’s campaign workers. This could be the same adviser who advised Hillary to make a plea deal now before the investigation is over and that was before the FBI uncovered her “deleted” emails.
The adviser is also disturbed that his advice is not being taken seriously:

“This e-mail thing is spiraling out of control. To paraphrase John Dean of Watergate fame, it’s a cancer on her candidacy.
“Frankly, I am used to my advice on legal matters being taken very seriously and acted upon by the Clintons. I’ve told them repeatedly that this FBI e-mail investigation could go in a very dangerous direction very quickly.
“I think Bill takes the matter seriously. But Hillary is still acting as though it’s a political smear job by right-wing zealots.”
The adviser also claims Hillary is hurting herself by laughing at the investigation as it insults career prosecutors in the Justice Department and that is never a wise thing to do. They can be very vindictive:
“By joking about her email problem and treating it like a PR issue, she’s only hurting herself, maybe mortally, with the prosecutors. Insulting career FBI and Justice Department investigators is a very bad and ill-advised strategy.
“You don’t want to be blindsided. And if you ignore it, pretend it is a partisan ploy, and act scornfully, it will blindside you.”
Although he expresses hope that Hillary’s actions will not be found to be criminal in nature, he expresses doubts that will be the case:
“Hopefully, the FBI will determine Hillary’s behavior does not amount to a criminal matter, and that she hasn’t violated the letter of the law with security breaches. I hope that will be the outcome.
“But from what I know of the case, Hillary is extremely vulnerable. There is going to be blood in the water. The investigators are looking for weak links to get to the bottom of what went on with Hillary’s national security emails. And I’m afraid they will find it.”
Timing is against Hillary if Joe Biden enters the race. The investigation will wrap up and the results will be announced just before the primary season begins. Maybe it’s time she considers the rewarding career of being an over-the-road truck driver.
