Gun control lobbying group honors Hillary Clinton

hclintThe anti-gun Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence will honor Democrat front runner Hillary Rodham Clinton at a dinner ceremony in New York Thursday evening, during the first annual “Bear Awards” named in memory of the late James Brady, in whose name the gun control lobbying group was founded.

Clinton will be sharing the spotlight with anti-gun New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New York Sen. Charles Schumer.

She has been pushing gun control as a main issue of her campaign, and earlier this week, President Barack Obama told GQ in an interview that he hopes to focus on the issue during his final year in the White House.

Clinton is not the only Democrat to push gun control this week. Just the other day in a radio interview on SeriusXM, Illinois Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky attempted to exploit last Friday’s terrorist slaughter in Paris to push gun control in the United States. She has come under a barrage of criticism as a result.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Quoted by various news agencies including The Hill, Schakowsky asserted that the Paris attack “ought to be a chilling reminder because, aside from blowing themselves up, which is, of course, not about small weapons, these people used the kinds of weapons that are still available in the United States of America. I think it ought to cause us to have another consideration of sensible gun-safety laws.”

There is no small amount of irony, since it is a safe bet the Thursday gala will have ample security, most likely armed, to protect Clinton, Cuomo, Schumer and other liberal anti-gunners in the big-money audience. Basic tickets were $1,000 apiece while a “bronze level” table sponsorship of $15,000, or shell out $25,000 for “select table seating for ten guests,” and $50,000 for a preferred table for ten. A “platinum level” table sponsorship costs $75,000, which covers “two premier/VIP tables” with seating for 20 guests.

Liberal hypocrisy on guns is nothing new. Occasionally it is even celebrated at gala events in The Big Apple.
