Heather Nauert arguably looks more like a college cheerleader than a 47-year-old mother of two who’s been a nationally recognized reporter and news anchor for most of her 21-year professional career.

But now it looks as if the Rockford, IL native may be leaving Manhattan Island for Washington, DC as one of the newest members of Team Trump.

As reported by The Washington Free Beacon, the “Fox & Friends” anchor is “on the short list to be the first spokesperson in the Trump administration’s State Department.”

The report continued;

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has not signed off on the potential appointment but multiple sources have said that she is being considered for the position, Politico reported.

Nauert was spotted at the White House last week to  reportedly discuss a communications role in the Trump administration, Axios reported.

Nauert, who is also a term member at the Council on Foreign Relations, has spent almost two decades at Fox News, according to Politico. She graduated from Mt. Vernon College with an undergraduate degree in communications, and has a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.

Spokespeople at the State Department did not respond to Politico regarding Nauert’s potential appointment. The public relations department of Fox News and the White House also did not respond to requests for comment.

Trump praised Nauert’s show during his press conference on Thursday.

“I watched this morning a couple of the networks and I have to say, ‘Fox & Friends’ in the morning, they’re very honorable people,” Trump said. “Not because they’re good, because they hit me also when I do something wrong, but they have the most honest morning show. That’s all I can say. It’s the most honest.”

Nauert is making an effort to show she stands in solidarity with the Trump administration; on Sunday she tweeted she would go buy Ivanka Trump shoes at Nordstrom to wear on “Fox and Friends.”
