Fake civics: CNN reporter completely botches explanation of impeachment — Video

CNN, the biased, rabidly anti-Trump propaganda outlet once dubbed the “least-trusted” name in network news, illustrated that it not only engages in fake news and fake history.  It also engages in fake civics.

While reporting (hoping?) on the topic of impeachment, a reporter declared to the world that 20 Senate Republicans would have to join Democrats to impeach President Trump.  There’s only one problem.  The Senate does not impeach presidents, something that once upon a time was taught in basic high school civics.

Daily Caller opinion writer Eddie Zipperer noticed the faux pas and posted a video of it to Twitter.

“Here’s a reporter on casually not knowing what impeachment is or how it works: She claims “It would require 20 Senate Republicans to join with Democrats to impeach president Trump” but the House of Reps has the sole power of impeachment, and impeachment is not removal,” he said.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

In subsequent tweets, he noted:

What she’s referring to is not impeachment but removal from office following an impeachment trial in the Senate. It’s a common misconception that impeachment is removal, but a reporter covering possible impeachment should not be making that mistake.

Perhaps was right yesterday, when in his quest to gotcha President Trump over a typo he stated that “When someone can’t get the little stuff right, it makes you worry about the big stuff.” Should I worry about , Brian or nah?

For anyone wondering, only the House can impeach the president, and it ONLY requires a simple majority. That means it is MUCH easier to impeach the President than it is to pass a bill. However, impeachment only leads to a Senate trial where it requires 2/3 to remove.

Of course, there has to be a real reason for impeachment, not the nonsense we’ve been hearing of late, like tax cuts.  Of course, Democrats don’t really need a reason, as we’ve heard them state in the past.  Democrat Al Green, for example, actually suggested impeaching the president over fellow Democrat Ralph Northam’s past bigotry.

“We suppose CNN is gonna CNN, right?” Twitchy sarcastically asked.  Apparently so.

One person noted the real problem with this kind of sloppy and erroneous “reporting.”

Another person sarcastically suggested she may have gotten her “information” from recently-elected Democrat Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Sad, but it certainly wouldn’t surprise us one bit.

Another astute observer noted the possible consequences of impeachment:

Indeed, as we and others have reported, such an action to remove Trump from office, especially under illegal pretenses, could have dangerous, if not potentially deadly consequences.

Then, there is this very frightening possibility:

Indeed…  After all, this… is CNN.
