On Wednesday, Citizens United released 198 pages of emails between the State Department and the Clinton Foundation.  According to the press release, “43 of the pages have to do with the creation of the ‘Friends of the Clinton Centre’ 501c3, its connection to an official State Department trip to Ireland, and a dinner that Secretary Clinton attended that doesn’t appear on her schedule.”  But two of those pages indicate that the State Deptarment and the Clinton Foundation conspired to “burn” a conservative journalist at the Weekly Standard over an article covering Bill Clinton’s comments attacking Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The emails were published in two batches.  The relevant emails can be found starting at page 51 in the second batch, here, and below:

State Department – Clinton Foundation Emails Part II by Citizens United on Scribd

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The chain starts with a transcript of the article written by Elliot Abrams on page 53.

Further in the chain, Amitabh Desai, an employee with the Clinton Foundation, asks, “Why don’t we just vet our transcript and then release it, to show that the blogger and his editor twisted it?”

That email was sent to Doug Band, a key adviser to former President Bill Clinton who represented the Clinton Foundation, Matt McKenna and Huma Abedin.

“You ok with us releasing it to burn that blogger who mischaracterized it?” he asked top Clinton aide Jacob Sulivan in an email seen on page 51.

But we’re supposed to believe there’s no connection between the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton State Department.

Just imagine what Clinton will do as president should she win…

“These documents were produced by the State Department as a result of FOIA requests and litigation,” Citizens United said.

The next email production from the State Department is due on October 10.
