Should conservatives boycott New York in response to Cuomo’s fascism?

cuomoLast Friday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo revealed his inner fascist when he declared that conservatives who oppose abortion and support the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms are “extremists” who “have no place” in his home state.

Fine.  Maybe conservatives should respond with a bit of economic muscle.  Since Cuomo doesn’t like conservatives, maybe his state can try to get along without our money and our business.

On Monday, talk show host Sean Hannity announced that he was leaving the state.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“I want you to know that and I can’t wait to get out of here. I really can’t. I don’t want to pay their 10-percent state tax anymore. I live in the second-highest property taxed county in the entire country in Nassau County. I can’t wait to sell my house to somebody who wants it. I can’t wait to pay no state income tax down in Florida or Texas. I haven’t decided yet, but I’m leaning Florida because I like the water and I like to fish,” he said.

Hannity wasn’t the only one to question Cuomo’s words.

Glenn Beck wondered if Cuomo is building a tyranny in the Empire State.

“Would you stand against your constituents and blot them out into the darkness merely because you disagree with them, or because it serves you or your party politically? Would disenfranchised peoples have ever gained their freedoms in this country were it not for the right to free speech, and the pluralistic and truly diverse society that free speech facilitates?” he asked.

“The Republican Party candidates are running against the SAFE Act — it was voted for by moderate Republicans who run the Senate! Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves. Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are,” Cuomo told Susan Arbetter on “The Capitol Pressroom.”

Cuomo’s office, realizing the Democrat stepped in it big-time, backtracked and tried to claim Cuomo didn’t say what he said, insisting the governor said “‘it is fine’ to be anti-gun control, and anti-choice – as he respects both positions.”

Hogwash.

Cuomo spoke from the heart Friday, revealing to conservatives across the country what he really thinks.  And it isn’t pretty.

He and his office can parse all they want, but the cat’s out of the bag.

Conservatives now know how liberals like Cuomo really feel about them.

A post at Selling the Second Amendment says it’s time to boycott New York.

“It’s time for conservatives and libertarians to Go Galt. With DeBlasio in Manhattan and Cuomo in New York, there’s nothing left for us,” the post reads.

I tend to agree.

A post at Before it’s News observed:

The fact is that companies have been leaving New York for years as a result of highest taxes in the country and burdensome regulations that are job killers.  A business owner would have to be crazy to relocate to New York given that the state is always rated among the worst places to do business in the country.

“Finally, as tourists that enjoy going to New York City every few years for Broadway, we will now go elsewhere to spend our money,” Joseph Morabito added.   “If Conservatives are not welcome in New York, so be it.”

“We will now boycott the state of New York” he added.  “This stupid Governor has just cost the state of New York at lot of money and jobs.   We are certainly not going to go where we are not welcome.   People of New York, wake up.   Your Governor Cuomo is a bigot and an Idiot.”
