Comey Declines Testimony Before Closed Door Senate Panel

In the firestorm that erupted the minute President Trump fired James Comey, now the former FBI Director is declining to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee next week. Of course, in the world of politics things chance by the minute, so who knows what will happen by his scheduled appearance on Tuesday.

The Senate Intelligence Committee had invited him this week to testify next Tuesday in a closed door meeting to talk about the Russian investigation and Donald Trump in the wake of his firing. The meeting would not have been open to the public. An aide to Senator Richard Burr’s (R-NC) office released the news that he declined their invitation.

The former director was originally scheduled to testify next Thursday as Director of the FBI, but was fired prior to that testimony. Deputy Director Andrew McCabe will take his place at that session.

The deepest swamp…even fake news?

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The leftstream media and Twitter are riddled with speculation over who said what to whom. The Democrats and their media mob hated Comey, but suddenly became his buddies as soon as he was fired, defending him in spite of his missteps.

The so-called “demand to preview” Comey’s Senate testimony is all over the place. More fake news?

Did Comey tell Trump he was not under investigation? McCabe declined to answer that question.

MSM is reporting that Trump “threatened” the former director over any hidden tape recordings of their conversations.

Democrats are enraged that The Donald tweeted about any taped conversations. Adam Schiff and other Democrats are demanding Trump turn over any and all tapes with the former Director, or confess he made them up. Wait…did they actually READ that tweet? If you didn’t, go back and read it. If he had any tapes of the conversations, not the President.

The New York Times reported that Trump demanded a pledge of loyalty from the Director over dinner in January, which he declined to do. ‘sources close to the former director’ were cited as the information chain in that article. Is it “fake news?”

So into that messy swamp comes Comey’s decision not to testify before the Senate Committee’s closed door session. The Senate was hoping that as a private citizen, Comey would ‘spill more beans’ about the investigation into alleged collusion between Trump and the Russians, since his previous testimonies were protected by the open investigations (not that it stopped him in the past).

“It is our hope in the not-too-distant future that we can find a time for [Comey] to come in and talk to our committee.” Senator Mark Warner, ranking Committee member (D-VA)

We’ll leave you with that thought.
