CNN accused of lying in claim that Trump supporters kicked Black Lives Matter activist

blmactivistOn Saturday, CNN reporter Jeremy Diamond issued a claim that Donald Trump supporters kicked a black activist who interrupted a rally in Alabama.

Diamond reported:

“Several attendees at the rally punched and kicked a protester who tried to disrupt Trump’s speech.

At least a half-dozen attendees shoved and tackled the protester, a black man, to the ground as he refused to leave the event. At least one man punched the protester and a woman kicked him while he was on the ground.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

He also claimed that all of those involved were white and issued this tweet which included a short video:

But the Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft said Sunday that he received a first-hand account from an Alabama reader who was at the event.  That reader, Hoft said, presented quite a different story:

No one kicked him or called him racial names. He laid in the floor refusing to get up & leave. Every time they got him on his feet he would try to lay down again. When they did finally get him on his feet & headed towards the door he tried to run back into the crowd shouting & screaming Black Lives Matter garbage. Finally when they were escorting him out of the crowd & towards the door is when he pulled up his outer garment revealing his BLM shirt.

A member of Black Lives Matter came looking for trouble & found it!

A review of the video posted by Diamond indicates that at least one person attempting to deal with the activist was black.  Breitbart explains further:

The video begins with the protester on the ground who, as he rises to get up, throws a punch, which fails to connect with any members of the crowd. One attendee, wearing a blue and white shirt and khaki pants, assumes a boxing stance in response, but that appears to be primarily a defensive mechanism.

Hoft said that Diamond and CNN “should retract their story and issue an apology.”

Diamond identified the activist as Mercutio Southall, a supporter of the DNC-approved Black Lives Matter movement who claimed that Trump supporters used racial slurs and called him a “monkey.”

“The slurs cannot be heard on the video CNN recorded of the incident, and the network was unable to independently confirm them,” he wrote.

Maybe that’s because they didn’t happen…

Hoft warned that conservatives “need to be on guard for this media manipulation in the future.”

Incidents like this are the reason we refer to the so-called “mainstream media” as the “Democrat-media complex.”  Expect much more of this type of “journalism” as the campaign season wears on.
