Boos for Hillary: Is the polish wearing off?

hillary barkDemocrat presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton was booed at an event in Las Vegas Thursday for asserting that Bernie Sanders was not really a Democrat, and a new Fox News poll says Sanders has pulled ahead of the former Secretary of State.

Clinton still reportedly holds a healthy lead in South Carolina, where the Democratic primary is a week away. The Nevada caucuses are Saturday, and for Clinton, the deck may be starting to go cold. The Silver State is “gun country” and she has, after all, made gun control a central part of her campaign.

She apparently did not help herself when she told CBS reporter Scott Pelley that “I don’t believe I ever have” lied to the American people. A news clip of that exchange was making the rounds on social media Friday morning, and is also shown at Newsbusters.

According to Fox News, its last two polls “show Clinton’s drop-off has been most striking among women (she has gone from 28 points ahead of Sanders to just 3 points up, for a shift of minus 25 points), whites (-13 points), and regular Democrats (-14 points). She has mostly held constant among black voters and those with a college degree.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Clinton’s credibility problem has dogged her through Iowa and New Hampshire, the latter being the scene of a drubbing by Sanders.

The Daily Mail quoted Clinton’s remarks in Las Vegas, where she said “Sen. Sanders wasn’t really a Democrat until he decided to run for president.”

She also claimed that the Vermont senator “doesn’t even know what the last two Democratic presidents did.”
