During a Texas State Senate discussion on the arrest and suicide of Sandra Bland, Garnet Coleman, chairman of the Texas Democratic Party and a representative from the Houston area, related a nightmare encounter he had with an officer.
Coleman said that the officer treated him “like a boy”, alluding to a racist connotation allegedly made by the officer:
“He talked to me like I was a child. He was so rude and nasty. Even when he found out I was a legislator, he became more rude and nasty. And I didn’t understand why this guy was continuing to go on and on and treat me like a child. And basically like I’m saying is treat me like a boy. I want to be very clear about that.”
That would be a very serious charge against the officer if it weren’t for the fact it was a bald faced lie. What Coleman must not have known is that the entire encounter was caught by the officer’s dash cam.
Needless to say that any part of Coleman’s story that resembled the truth was merely coincidental.
