On Monday, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump spoke to a packed house of some 12,000 people, despite efforts by liberals to sabotage the event.
While speaking at the event, he repeated a line we reported earlier — namely that he would bring back “enhanced” interrogation techniques, namely waterboarding.
That prompted the Associated Press’ Jill Colvin to publish an article originally headlined, “Trump says torture works, supports more aggressive methods.”
The Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft grabbed a screenshot of the headline:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
But that’s not all. The AP also tweeted the line:
Trump says torture works, he'd bring back waterboarding 'in a heartbeat,' @colvinj reports. https://t.co/D9spppmq59

Others also tweeted the false narrative:

But there’s only one problem. Trump never said that “torture works.” Here’s what he actually said:
Would I approve waterboarding? I said, “Well let me ask you a question. On the other side, they’re chopping off our young people’s heads. And they put them on a stick. On the other side, they build these iron cages, the put twenty people in them. And they drop them in the ocean for fifteen minutes and pull them up fifteen minutes later.” Would I approve of waterboarding? You bet your ass I would. Don’t fool yourself folks. It works!
Shortly before this article was written, the AP changed the headline to read:
Just a bit different from what it originally ran…
Here’s video of Trump’s actual statement:
Unfortunately it’s too late, as the damage has already been done. Once again, the Democrat-media complex set out to promote a false narrative and leftists took the bait without bothering to actually listen to what Trump said.
This type of shoddy “journalism” cannot be by accident. Media outlets know that many do not bother to actually read the article or watch the video. They read the headline and perhaps a short snippet posted to Twitter or Facebook and that’s it. Their opinion is formed and very little can change it.

As a result, low-information liberal voters remain ignorant of what was actually said or done.
Unfortunately for the “complex,” there is an alternative media that is more than happy to correct their “mistakes” in order to help present a more accurate picture of what is going on.
