Last night’s recall elections, the first two in the history of Colorado, were hugely successful in driving two democratic state senators from office. John Morse and Angela Giron, were both recalled yesterday, in which the nation looked on as a referendum for gun control. Giron’s loss was somewhat unexpected, since democrats outnumber republicans in that district, by a whopping 47% to 23%.
Since the recall petitions went out, the elections have been seen of national importance for both sides. Gun control has always been a national issue that have led to certain defeat on election day, but forces within the democratic gun control lobby, insisted that the tide had turned. It was the biggest surprise since the Little Big Horn.
