Liberal bumper sicker: “In Obama We Trust”

In Obama we Trust.

Bumper sticker: In Obama we Trust

While cruising around on Facebook, I happened across a photo of a bumper sticker that made me do a double-take.

“In Obama We Trust,” the sticker read, a clear reference to the national motto, “In God We Trust.”

“What?” I asked myself.  Surely this must be a joke.

Say what? In announcing reversal on gay marriage, Obama says troops fighting “on my behalf”

Barack Obama reverts to 1996 position on gay marriage, says US troops fighting on his behalf.

Barack Obama reverts to 1996 position on gay marriage, says US troops fighting on his behalf.

On Wednesday, Barack Obama reverted to his 1996 position on gay marriage and says he now supports it.  But he also said something else that caught the ear of a number of conservatives:

“[W]hen I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married”

New Black Panther’s Malik Zulu Shabazz predicts increased racial violence after Nov. election

Malik Zulu Shabazz

Malik Zulu Shabazz

Seems the New Black Panthers are getting set to engage in some more voter intimidation this November.  From Examiner:

Malik Zulu Shabazz, the national chairman of the New Black Panther Party, predicted there would be an increase in racial violence following the re-election of Barack Obama in November.

In audio dated Tuesday, May 8, Shabazz said the group would play an active role in the 2012 election.

“Y’all move out fast and get ready quick, fast, in a hurry,” he said.

Speaking on an Internet radio program, he said that Obama has the support of minorities, gays and what he described as the white “MSNBC vote.”

Libs mad Romney didn’t beat woman to death for suggesting Obama be tried for treason, forget their own treatment of George Bush

Romney at town hall

Mitt Romney refuses to denounce woman who said Obama should be tried for treason.

Okay, well, maybe they didn’t go quite that far, but they are mad that he didn’t pull a McCain and denounce her for saying Obama should be tried for treason.

They also seem to have forgotten the way they treated George W. Bush.  After all, they actually made a movie fantasizing about his assassination.

Examiner reported:

Liberals are incensed that Mitt Romney did not immediately denounce a female supporter who suggested Obama “be tried for treason.”  Romney, however, did say later that he does not agree with the woman’s statement.

“We have a president right now who is operating outside the construction of our Constitution,” the woman said at a campaign event held Monday at an engineering and metal-stamping plant in Euclid, Ohio.

“And I do agree he should be tried for treason,” she added, before asking the former Massachusetts governor what he would do to restore the Constitution and “help restore balance between the three branches of government.”

Markos Moulitsas of the Daily Kos was one of those who criticized Romney on Twitter.

“Thanks to the woman who asked Romney the “treason” question, for showing Romney’s cowardice in the face of his crazy base,” he tweeted.

But a search of Moulitsas’ own website using the term “Bush +Treason” returns 3,574 results, and a Google search on the term “Bush treason” (with the quotes) returns 71,700 hits.

In other words, it’s the same old double standard that is always in play with the left.

Did Romney do the right thing by not immediately denouncing the woman or the question?

A poll at The Blaze suggests that yes, he did – by a wide margin.  Over 87 percent of those who responded said Romney should not have called the woman out for making the suggestion.

A post at Twitchy notes:

Yeah, see, that’s the thing: Barack Obama, to whom Mitt Romney has referred as a “nice guy,” certainly hasn’t swooped in to save Romney’s reputation. Obama’s minions, a group that includes the mainstream media, haven’t stepped up to the plate, either.

Yeah, it looks like it’s going to be one of those kinds of elections.

Massachusetts passes law banning bake sales in schools, PTA fundraising hit hardest

It’s all for the children, you know.

From Examiner:

Starting on August 1, groups like PTAs and booster clubs will no longer be able to raise funds by holding bake sales in Massachusetts schools.

“At a minimum, the nosh clampdown targets so-called ‘competitive’ foods — those sold or served during the school day in hallways, cafeterias, stores and vending machines outside the regular lunch program, including bake sales, holiday parties and treats dished out to reward academic achievement,” Laurel J. Sweet and Chris Cassidy reported at the Boston Herald on Monday.

The idea, of course, is to further control the nutritional intake of the state’s children, but if officials have their way, the ban will be expanded “24/7 to include evening, weekend and community events such as banquets, door-to-door candy sales and football games.”

MA state Sen. Susan Fargo, a Democrat – of course – said the problem has reached “crisis” proportions, meaning the government just has to step in and regulate something else.

What’s next?  Regulating Sunday potluck meals at churches?

Obama memo: Blame military if bin Laden raid fails

Former AG Michael Mukasey: Obama Regime Drafted Memo to Blame Military If bin Laden Mission Failed

Former AG Michael Mukaskey

On Friday, Jim Hoft of the Gateway Pundit noted that the Obama regime was set to blame the military if the bin Laden raid went sour.

What’s so new about that?  Obama has blamed Bush, the Internet, a messy democracy, the Founding Fathers and ATM machines for all of his other failures, so it really isn’t much of a shock to learn that he would blame the military if the raid that got the 9/11 terror mastermind failed.

Hoft wrote:

Former Attorney General Michael Mukasey told Sean Hannity tonight that the Obama Administration drafted a memo to protect the president from blame if the mission to kill or capture Osama Bin Laden would have failed. That way Obama could blame the general instead of taking the blame himself. Mukasey wrote about it this week in The Wall Street Journal.

Mukaskey wrote:

“That was a highly lawyered memo (designed to protect the president politically)… I think there’s going to be more that’s going to be tumbling out about that escapade but so far that memo is enough.

He discussed this with Fox News’ Sean Hannity:

Mukasey: Memo Was Drafted to Protect Obama From Blame If OBL Mission Failed

This week in the Civil War; May 6 – 11, 1862: The destruction of the Confederate ironclad CSS Virginia

After the historic battle between the USS Monitor and the CSS Virginia – known to many as the Merrimack – the two ironclad vessels kept each other in check for a period of about two months.

The Virginia, commanded by Commodore Josiah Tatnall, spent much of her time docked at Norfolk undergoing repairs.

Lt. Catesby ap Roger Jones, Executive Officer for the Virginia, wrote in 1874 that “Commodore Tatnall commanded the Virginia forty-five days, of which time there were only thirteen days she was not in dock or in the hands of the Navy Yard.”

Inaugural post: Why the Conservative Firing Line?

Welcome to the Conservative Firing Line!  Some of you who come here for the first time may know me as the Spokane Conservative Examiner.  If you’re not familiar with that column, you can check it out here.

Why does this blog exist?  After all, there are a number of conservative blogs, all of which do yeoman’s work in presenting conservative points of view.

The answer is simple.  Not only will we inform and educate, but we’ll also encourage conservatives to get involved in politics at all levels.  As Rush Limbaugh said in December, we need to “get rid of every liberal in government.”

It starts at the top, but liberals infect every level of government, and they must be defeated in order to ensure America remains a free, sovereign nation with all of the freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution.

Make no mistake, we are engaged in a struggle for the soul – the very existence – of a free United States, and that means all of us must be actively engaged.  As Rep. Allen West said, we must “fight them wherever they are.”

Welcome, then, to the Conservative Firing Line, and get engaged.

Over time, this site will undergo changes as we tweak things to make them work better, but we invite everyone to participate and have fun.
